[Kieda] Yearning Hearts [Kieda] Yearning Hearts

first of all, i really like the tune, you "catched" the right feeling for a track like this. but your drums is not fitting well IMO. a much more liquid like pattern and sounds can be fix these things. less punch, and a little bit more spread will be do the trick.
good job!

some advice

i know this is a WIP, i get it, but here is my comment to it:
i think your drums are good, but i cannot feel right now that little spark what is telling me this is a well-constructed track. i'm also think your the bass is too harsh and raw.
i think i know what are you trying to do, but the best part is at 00:23-00:45 and 01:55--, and if i were you i will try to build and focus for these two sections. i hope i could helped you in some way.
3/5 for now.

i completely agree with firepoint, expect i think your bass is doesn't fits into the track (especially after the first 45 secs), and i could imagine some more piano in it too. and I hear that the piano is not (or at least does not) sound as powerful as the main synth you've used. and if you add a little more variety to it, at least the same way like you did on the main one, then i think you'd be done with it. although i think your drums are excellent, so don't change that!
for a second try it's a pretty decent result. keep it up!

i think it's much more like trance than dnb, because i don't hear any element of dnb in this at all. it's sounds great, maybe you overmaximized the synths a little bit, but i think it's fine.
i like the pads, synths and the structure, but thats all.

Silta responds:

Drum 'n' Bass as a genre is characterized by fast breakbeat percussion loops and a tempo between 160 and 180 BPM. This song is 164 BPM, and it has many drum patterns that go beyond the standard perpetual 4x4 kick in trance. Like I said in the description, it's sort of a fusion of trance and d&b; since it better fits the description of d&b, it's listed as that.

But I would prefer that you pay attention to the suspense and energy that the track holds rather than just all the little technical aspects. With those standards, you're grading an amateur artist the same way that you would a seasoned professional. I understand that the technical side of an electronically produced track is equally important, but I was hoping for a response more along the lines of commenting on the music itself. But, to each his own.

Thanks for listening,

i think you've found your own sound. this track is well-produced, it sounds great, i have nothing to add to it. i don't listen and i don't like this kind of dnb, but i admit this is a fine pice of work.
the only thing i vote for 9 points, your drums can be a little bit more punchy or just the snare.
keep it up!

aw man...

sry man, but this track is overrated. the entire melody IS a z3ta patch without any hearable changes. you put a pretty neat break on that, but it sounds like lo-fi, and unmastered. the kicks are clipping, the snare doesn't have range, and there is some holes too. the i cannot hear any bass, or pads, or fx's, or anything else than the melody.
for the future: listen to a LOT of different music, and try to find why are you like them! then try to "copy" every single melody, sound from them and put them together. and if you are satisfied with the results, then you will realize that what is your style and what is missing from this track.
i hope i can helped you in some way, so cheer up, and continue!

wip, i get it, but:

I really hate if someone not post any comments for a vote, so here it is:
I think the main synth is a little bit raw for this kind of dnb, and it also become repetitive after ~3 mins. but at ~3:55 it's suddenly change, the track progresses, the filter did his job. if i were you, i would experimenting with this part, backed up with some heavy sine waves! i think if you do this, it can be a great track! oh, one more thing: i don't have any problems with the track's other elements, so thats why the 6/10 | 3/5
i hope i can helped you in some way

DreamEater responds:

Definitely bro!
Thank you so much for the review.

I think I will experiment around with my lead synth a little more, I can see how it doesn't really fit with everything else. :(

Thanks again for your input bud, but was a 6 really necessary just because you didn't like one of my leads?

great atmosphere

for first time i expected liquid and im absolutely surprised when i heared the rasping bass. but at the end of the break and towards the whole track, it is packed with spoon measured-out funk. if u know what i mean. finally, i was not disappointed, congrats :)
